SharePoint 2010

There has been no official name or date given to the next version of SP but I think it will be called Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010 and that it will reach us by Q1 2010. I predict the beta will be out Q3 2009. It will be based on .Net 4.0 and only run on Windows 2008 with SQL Server 2008.

hi,

I am SO excited to understand that Microsoft is soon to release Sharepoint 2010. I currently have a WSS 3.0 hosted at ASPHostCentral (http://www.asphostcentral.com) and I am wondering whether I can do an upgrade to Sharepoint 2010.

As far as I am concerned, I on the Windows Server 2008 32-bit version and I hope that there is an article about the way to upgrade, if any.

Thank you.

Carlos,

SharePoint Server 2010 and the new version of WSS 3.0 (name unknown) will not be out until the first half of 2010.

There is an upgrade path from WSS3.0 to the new version, however you will need to speak to your hosting provider about it. Hosting providers can take a long time to upgrade and doing so with SharePoint is much more complicated than SQL Server. I suggest contacting your provider at the time.

SharePoint Server 2010 will run on 64bit only.
